Celebrating Diversity: LCM Brings Holiday Displays to Life for Grainger

One of our premier clients, WW Grainger, is known for fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. When their interior landscape provider declined a request to create holiday displays celebrating Diwali and Kwanzaa, LCM stepped in without hesitation.

Bringing Diwali to Life
Senior Account Manager Mike Graham took the lead, conducting in-depth research to design an award-winning Diwali display, which was showcased from October 29 to November 3. Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali honors Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity and symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. Traditional elements such as fresh fruits and sweets, which are offered to Hindu deities, played a key role in the display, embracing a tradition that has been celebrated for over 2,500 years.

Honoring Kwanzaa Traditions
The Kwanzaa display was unveiled on Christmas Eve, just before the festival’s official start on December 26. This seven-day celebration, which runs through January 3, was established in 1966 to honor African American heritage and culture. Each night, one of the seven candles is lit, representing Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith. The display also incorporated traditional African fruits and vegetables, key symbols of the holiday’s roots in harvest festivals.

Grainger’s commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to recognizing a variety of cultural celebrations, including Hanukkah, Christmas and Ramadan. LCM is honored to support their efforts by creating meaningful, authentic displays that celebrate the richness of these traditions.
